TRADITIONAL OWNERS

The Swiss Italian Festa acknowledges the Dja Dja Wurrung as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet and celebrate, and we pay our respects to their Elders, past and present.

SUSTAINABILITY

We aim to continue the legacy of the Swiss Italians settlers who valued our local environment and thus saved Hepburn’s natural springs, protecting the lifestyles we enjoy today. Our aim is to ensure that the Festa’s behind the scenes practice is as sustainable as possible. We will concentrate on the following areas:

  • Use renewable energy were possible and encourage our partners, sponsors and venues to do the same;
  • Offer drink stations and encourage festival goers to bring their own water bottles;
  • Implement waste reduction strategies (reduce all disposable items), offer recycling and composting bins with signage at events, and work with partners to reduce waste. Use electronic forms of communication and marketing where possible and / or use environmentally sensitive materials for printed materials.

DIVERSITY

We accept people’s differences. We will treat all people with respect and dignity.

SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY

We place a high value on safety for both staff and participants. We will ensure that all Festa activities are fully assessed for risk and meet COVID-Safe requirements. We will make all sites as welcoming and accessible as possible for all.
